Turkish Parliament approves military action in Iraq

Thursday, October 18, 2007

On Wednesday, Turkey’s Grand National Assembly voted 507-19 to authorize sending troops into northern Iraq to pursue Kurdish rebels. Although the authorization is valid for one year, Turkish officials made clear that it would not necessarily result in military action. Both the United States and Iraq have recently warned Turkey against such an incursion.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo?an said that although the motion does not indicate that a military operation is imminent, it is necessary for Turkey to be able to respond to bomb attacks which have been blamed on Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) rebels in Iraq. Turkey has been asking for help in dealing with the PKK for months, and the Turkish public has grown frustrated with America’s perceived lack of action on the issue.

Both the United States and Iraq have recently warned Turkey against an incursion into Iraq. “The Iraqi government calls on the Turkish government to pursue a diplomatic solution and not a military solution to solve the [problem] of terrorist attacks which our dear neighbor Turkey has witnessed from the PKK,” Iraq government spokesperson Ali al-Dabbagh said earlier this week. White House National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe called on Turkey “to continue their discussions with us and the Iraqis and to show restraint from any potentially destabilizing actions.”

Responding to the motion, U.S. President George W. Bush urged Turkey not to carry out an attack, saying “[we are] making it clear to Turkey it is not in their interest to send more troops in… there is a better way to deal with the issue.”

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad defended Turkey’s decision and criticized the U.S. position, saying “It is important to note that the powers that have invaded Iraq are those primarily responsible for the terror activities and attacks because they control the country.” “We certainly support and back the decisions by the Turkish government in combat against terror and terror activities,” he said.

Murat Karayilan, the leader of the armed wing of the PKK, warned Turkey of the consequences of an attack in an interview with The Times. “If the Turkish Army attacks Iraqi Kurdistan we will struggle and resist against this until the end,” he said. Karayilan nevertheless said he hoped that the crisis could be resolved peacefully but continues attacks on Turkish soldiers, killing 12 in an ambush yesterday.

U.S.-Turkish relations have been strained recently after a U.S. House of Representatives resolution passed committee, labeling the World War I era killings of up to 1.5 million Armenians by the Ottoman Empire as “genocide”. Turkey strongly disputes these claims. Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi says the US House of Representatives will vote on the resolution “soon.”

President Bush criticized the resolution at a press conference on Wednesday, saying “One thing Congress should not be doing is sorting out the historical record of the Ottoman Empire.”

Forex Trading Tips How To Triple Your Forex Trading Profits

1. Always prepare for the worst, think how to protect your trade first!Almost all the traders will think how much money or profits they aregoing to make when they trade. This is a wrong mindset. If you are abeginner in forex trading, then you should assume the worst first andnot thinking about profits in the first place. You should be very eagerto protect your trade from losses by shifting it to break even afteryour trade has around more than 40 pips in profits. The trade is alsoconsidered won even it has broke even.2. Don’t take high leverage for granted. Many forex brokers offer a high leverage of 100:1 to 400:1. True it isvery tempting, but you should not use very high leverage for abeginning and for a small forex account, it is not advisable to usemore than 50:1 or 100:1, so as to prevent your account from going bust.Traders thought they can win big using high leverage, but what if theyloose? Their trading capital goes into the drain too.3. Not risking more than 1% to 5% of your trading account. This is a very important money management rule. How much do you riskfor every trade? Forex trading is all about high probability andcalculated risk. If you think you can’t take risk at all, then youshouldn’t be learning to trade forex at all. For a small $1000 account,it may seems by risking 1%, the gains are very small too, but that’sthe right way to build your capital. For me, I’m a conservative traderand I risk only 2% of my trading account per trade.

Interesting Things To Know About The Cbd Isolate

“Cannabis”, “cannabidiol”, “hemp” are all terms that are becoming more and more widespread in the media. It is certainly one of the most controversial new trends in modern medicine.

Scientifically proven to help people with stress, anxiety, depression, pain there is no wonder why it has been in the limelight recently.

Cannabidiol or CBD is a cannabinoid that is found in cannabis. It is the second most common cannabinoid in the plant. Considered as the younger brother of THC, it is the second most researched cannabinoid after THC.If you want to know more about the history of cannabidiol, you can visit .

Oftentimes, cannabidiol is confused with THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) a substance that produces the “high” effect associated with marijuana, but unlike THC, it has no psychoactive effect and is suitable for most people. Even the World Health Organization (WHO) states that CBD has almost no adverse effects.

Where does CBD come from?

Although CBD is getting mainstream attention for the first time, it does not mean that it is something completely new. In fact, the first documented use of cannabidiol dates back to 2737 B.C.

The benefits of cannabis were generally unacknowledged by the medical community due to insufficient evidence. However, in 1839 a study exploring the effect of cannabis described the possible medical uses and set the stage for further research. Finally, in 1942 a group of chemists managed to successfully isolate CBD for the first time.

Once chemists discovered that there were multiple cannabinoids out there, they isolated them and began researching how they work individually. Even though there was a time when research regarding the benefits of CBD was hindered by stigma, certain countries began to allow the plant to be used for medical purposes.

Nowadays, hemp that contains less than 0.3% THC is legal to cultivate in a lot of countries, and products derived from it are legal to sell. This means that as long as it is hemp-derived and contains less than 0.3% THC, CBD is legal to be used for different medical purposes.

Different types of products

Tinctures and oils. CBD tinctures and oils are typically glycerin, alcohol, or oil based. They can be ingested on their own, added into food and drinks, or taken with a dropper.

Gummies. Products such as gummies can be an easy, fun, and tasty way to take your daily dose of CBD. They come in a variety of shapes, colors, and dosages. You can even choose between vegan and gelatin-based gummies.

Vaporizers. If you need a quick way to intake CBD extracts, then vaporizers might help. However, vaping comes with the risk of developing lung damage, so placing the extracts under your tongue and letting them dissolve is a much safer alternative than using a vaporizer.

Balms and topicals. CBD products that come in the form of balms and topicals are a great way to address irritated skin, aches, and pains. CBD creams, face and foot masks, balm sticks, bath bombs, and so on will not only nourish your skin but will also let you experience the natural benefits of hemp.Visit this page, for more information on different types of products.

Isolate. Grinding crystals into powder produces the CBD isolate. This powder contains pure CBD which can be consumed by adding it to food, drinks, vaping pipes, or taking it sublingually. It does not have a typical taste or smell.

Benefits of taking CBD isolate

As a natural ingredient, CBD helps in maintaining mental health. It takes part in regulating sleep, appetite, mood, and coping with stress and anxiety. CBD influences the same brain receptors just like certain antidepressants would, without causing side effects.

Some studies point out that consuming it before sleeping can improve sleep quality, and would make a good treatment for insomnia, but only when taken in the right dosage.

Another conducted research is on anxiety. It was discovered that CBD has substantial potential at treating anxiety disorders, including PTSD, OCD, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and few others.

Cannabinoid receptors can play a major role in pain management when stimulated. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD isolate can be beneficial when coping with rheumatoid arthritis since its consumption can reduce the pain and inflammation of the joints and prevent further joint and bone destruction.

Studies show that taking this isolate lowers heart rate and blood pressure induced by anxiety or stressful situations. It also affects platelet aggregation and white blood cell function. Some research shows that it may help in cases of brain damage and boost brain function. The potential to treat blood clot conditions is also mentioned.

As the purest version of cannabidiol, CBD isolate is gaining new popularity in the skincare industry because of its anti-inflammatory effects. It is said to reduce rosacea, dermatitis, and acne. Being an antioxidant, it can improve hyperpigmentation, sebum production and protect the skin from pollution and damaging UV rays. CBD isolate is best when dissolved in oil-based skincare products.

Finally, one of the areas where the positive effects of CBD are probably most discussed is oncology. Various studies have been conducted as to see whether this component can contribute to cancer treatment. There is evidence that regular CBD isolate intake may reduce the symptoms of cancer and the side effects of chemotherapy and prevent the appearance of tumors. Several studies show that it also eases nausea.

Russian choreographer Igor Moiseyev dies at age 101

Friday, November 2, 2007

Igor Moiseyev, who has been widely acclaimed as the greatest 20th-century choreographer of folk dance, has died today after a long illness. He was 101 years old.

Born Igor Alexandrovich Moiseyev on January 21, 1906 in Kiev, Moiseyev graduated from the Bolshoi Theatre ballet school in 1924 and danced in the theatre until 1939. His first choreography in the Bolshoi was Footballer in 1930 and the last was Spartacus in 1954.

Since the early 1930s, he staged acrobatic parades on Red Square and finally came up with the idea of establishing the Theatre of Folk Art. In 1936, Vyacheslav Molotov put him in charge of the new dance company, which has since been known as the Moiseyev Ballet. Among about 200 dances he created for his company, some humorously represented the game of football and guerrilla warfare. After visiting Belarus he choreographed a Belarusian “folk” dance Bulba (“Potato”), which over the years indeed became a Belarusian folk dance. According to the Encyclopædia Britannica, Moiseyev’s work has been especially admired “for the balance that it maintained between authentic folk dance and theatrical effectiveness”.

Moiseyev was named People’s Artist of the USSR in 1953, Hero of Socialist Labor in 1976, received the Lenin Prize (1967, for the dance show A Road to the Dance), four USSR State Prizes (1942, 1947, 1952, 1985), Russian Federation State Prize (1996), was awarded numerous orders and medals of the Soviet Union, Spain, and many other countries. On the day of his centenary, Moiseyev became the first Russian to receive Order for the Merits before the Fatherland, 1st class — the highest civilian decoration of the Russian Federation.

Chilean army recruits missing

Friday, May 20, 2005

The Chilean Army acknowledges 65 recruits are missing in the Andes from a training exercise that was hit by severe snow storm. Colonel Carlos Mezano also reports 5 bodies have been recovered so far, apparently all had died from hypothermia.

433 Soldiers of the Regiment “Los Ángeles” went missing Thursday on the Los Barros range in southern central Chile, close to Argentine border, approximately 600 km southeast of the capital of Santiago. 316 recruits completed the exercise and are reported to be safe. 47 are reported safe, though incommunicado, in a high mountain refuge. The remaining 65 are still missing.

General Juan Emilio Cheyre, Chief Commander of the Army declared, “A unit of this type, surprised by a tsunami of snow, is trained to stop, so it is possible that they are all camping […] I do not want to raise false hopes. This is a unexpected situation, but to me a unit offers more hope than scattered soldiers.”

Rescue efforts have encountered trouble due to severe bad weather. A ‘no fly zone’ has been established in the Andes region. The Army and the media are avoiding, for now, speculation over the number of possibly dead soldiers, but the general mood of the families is pessimistic and allegations of neglect by Army officials have started to arise.

Most of the soldiers are men from the local area, from 18 to 19 years old.

Car maker DeLorean dies at 80

Monday, March 21, 2005

Automobile industry pioneer, John DeLorean, died Saturday in a New Jersey hospital by complications from a stroke.

DeLorean was born in 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to European immigrant parents. He received an education in automotive engineering and quickly rose through the ranks of Packard and later General Motors (GM). DeLorean was credited with the development of the Pontiac GTO, which helped introduce the era of “muscle cars”. By 1965, DeLorean led the entire Pontiac division, and four years later was promoted to the prestigious position of leading GM’s Chevrolet.

In 1973, DeLorean quit General Motors and started his own company, the De Lorean Motor Company. The company’s product was the DMC-12, an unusual car featuring an unpainted, stainless-steel exterior and gull-wing doors. The company started production in 1981 but failed less than two years later, having produced under 9,000 vehicles. Despite the company’s failure and the car’s dismal sales, the car itself gained a cult following after the release of the 1985 movie Back to the Future which featured the car as a time-travel machine.

DeLorean himself was in nearly as much trouble as his company. In 1982 he was arrested for attempting to sell $24 million worth of cocaine to undercover police, and after his company’s failure, he became involved in a multitude of lawsuits alleging investor fraud. Though DeLorean successfully resolved the cocaine case after claiming entrapment, his other legal cases would drag on until 1999, when he declared bankruptcy.

Somali pirates hijack Indonesian tugboat and Turkish container ship

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

Two more vessels have been hijacked in Somalia. Pirates have captured an Indonesian tugboat with a barge that was working for French oil firm Total and a Turkish container ship.

The Turkish vessel’s seizure was confirmed by a US Fifth Fleet spokesman. MV Bosphorus Prodigy is a 330 ft (100 m) container vessel flagged in Antigua and Barbuda. It is owned and operated by Isko Marine Company based in Istanbul.

The Fifth Fleet could not confirm the tugboat’s seizure, but an anonymous official with Total in Yemen could. He explained the boat and barge were headed to Malaysia from the Yemeni port of Mukalla. He said the crew consisted of both Indonesians and other nationalities, and that the vessels, which had been hired by a subcontractor, were not carrying any oil at the time.

The new hijackings came as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime asked for greater policing in the area by international bodies, and for the signing of agreements that allowed the arresting officer to take pirates back to the officer’s country for prosecution.

“Pirates cannot be keelhauled or forced to walk the plank, nor should they be dumped off the Somali coast,” said the office’s head Antonio Maria Costa. “They need to be brought to justice”.
